Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medals Presented in Beaufort Delta and Nunakput

YELLOWKNIFE (January 22, 2013) - Premier Bob McLeod, Nellie Cournoyea, Chair and CEO of the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation, Inuvik MLAs Alfred Moses and Robert C. McLeod and Mayor Floyd Roland presented the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medals to eleven Inuvik residents on Monday, January 14 at Ingamo Hall.

In the Nunakput Region, the Paulatuk Community Corporation presented Elizabeth Kuptana with the Diamond Jubilee Medal on New Year’s Day and in Ulukhaktok, Robert Kuptana and Annie Goose both received Diamond Jubilee Medals presented by the Ulukhaktok Community Corporation during the Christmas break.
The Diamond Jubilee Medal was created by the Government of Canada to recognize the outstanding contributions of Canadians of all ages and from all walks of life. This medal program is one of the elements of the year-long Diamond Jubilee celebrations. Further medal presentation ceremonies will be organized to recognize other NWT recipients before the Diamond Jubilee celebrations end in February 2013.
