YELLOWKNIFE (October 23, 2015) – The Department of Municipal and Community Affairs has announced the nine non-government organizations (NGOs) that will receive funding through the 2015-2016 Non-Government Organization Stabilization Fund.
“MACA provides this funding annually to assist NGOs with capacity building, governance, management and other important areas. The funding provides financial assistance that helps ensure these organizations are able to focus on providing services that benefit northern residents,” said Robert C. McLeod, Minister of Municipal and Community Affairs.
The 2015-2016 recipients of the NGO Stabilization Fund are:
Fostering Open eXpression Among Youth (FOXY)
Foster Family Coalition of the NWT
NWT Literacy Council
NWT Seniors’ Society
Children First Society
Hay River Committee for Persons with Disabilities
Yellowknife Association for Community Living
Yellowknife Women’s Society
YWCA Yellowknife
The NGO Stabilization Fund was established in 2009 with the aim of providing short-term support for NGOs, especially those that deliver critical GNWT funded programs and services to NWT residents. In March 2015, responsibility for the delivery of the NGO Stabilization Fund was transferred to the Department of Municipal and Community Affairs. Since the creation of the NGO Stabilization Fund, 85 grants have been provided to 39 organizations across the territory.
